the very first one

on the free dictionary the first entry for the word portrait is "(...) likeness of a person, especially one showing the face, that is created by a painter or photographer, for example". while i was trying to find a definition of what a portrait would be, i've got me thinking about photography itself. as an art expression (and whatever other kind of expression, actually) i see it as the way the photographer sees the world, the way the photographer choose to show the world through his/hers lens. when it comes to portraits, though, i tend to feel it shows off more the shooted person's subjectivity than the protograther's one. i wonder why.
